James is the organiser, translator and host of the International Poetry Night, a celebration of literature in multiple languages. The event was held between 2016 and 2019 in Colombia, Italy and the United Kingdom. It welcomed more than a hundred readers in fifty-four languages.
In 2018, 'The Confraternità Collection' was published with the help of Giorgio Santangelo and the Confraternità dell'Uva Bookshop, Bologna. Written in nine languages with English translation, it brought together original writing from the poets of the event in Italy.
The events in Bologna and Manchester, with performances in multiple languages plus English translation, became the basis for Interpret, Scotland's new magazine of international writing.
